Web site problems

Brother Hesekiel

Senior Member
On several occasions now, I have tried to reply to a FOR SALE post, and got this message:

Brother Hesekiel, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
  1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
  2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.
I also can't "quote" because I get the same message. What I can do is send a PM, which I usually do. I would like to blame Obama for it, but I don't think it's his fault. What to do?

I got the same thing a while back on my personal profile When I clicked on the name of one of the people that was looking at me it would come up. As long as that name was on my profile it would come up every time that I clicked on it. I really didn't appreciate or understand it.

We no longer allow replies to classified ads. In order to make a purchase or ask a question, simply send a private message to the seller. You can do so by clicking on the seller's username and then clicking "Send Private Message."

Thanks and enjoy the forum!

these are clear explanations, but wouldn't it make sense to have the pop-up message also incorporate the policy of sending personal messages to purchase from the site?

Pretty sure the pop-up message is a system-level message that is generated in multiple instances. Changing it to read as you suggest would only apply to this one instance.

Honestly, having a sticky titled "Trying To Reply To A Classified Ad?" atop the forum should be sufficient.

It showed up on my public profile when I clicked on a certain visitors name . I wasn't responding to a classified add or trying to delete anothers message. It made me wonder who was looking at me and why I couldn't look back. Then there was the thing about not having sufficient privileges.
