Water pump... Just grease or something else?

The September-October 1932 Service Bulletins on Page 58 carry a warning against using SPECIAL WATER PUMP LUBRICANTS in the V8 as well as 4 cylinder engines (.Model A & B). Both were designed for pressure gun lubricants which melt at temperatures below the temperatures of water in the cooling system. The Special Lubricants have a melting point higher than the water temperature which leads to radiator clogging. (That was 1932 advice )

Is there a modern day equivalent that melts below the temp of the water in the cooling system? I put Lucas X-TRA Heavy Duty Grease in there, because that's what I have in stock. But maybe there's something better for this.
