water pump fan and shroud

I currently have a plastic shroud around my multiblade plactic fan. I like the looks of the 2 blade fan without any shroud. was a shroud original ? also any one thoughts on converting back to the 2 blade fan. I see snyders has the 2 blae cast aluminum fan. thanks john

Not sure, but I do not think originals were equipped with shrouds...........?

1928 Model A's had a metal shroud, and I'm sure it helped. Henry must have felt the extra help wasn't needed, so it was discontinued. You can get by without it, and the 2 blade aluminum fan is an excellent idea.

the fan shroud was used into Feb. '29 according to the JS.
the plastic shroud is a Snyder's repro. good, but the original was steel.
the aluminum 2 blade fan is also a Snyder's repro and very good...most parts houses stock this one.

That's what I was thinking, and if you had a stout wire screen or expanded steel against the rear of the radiator, you might also save that from damage.
