Water pump bearing race removal

Fellas, I could use your expertise. I have removed my waterpump and tapped out the impeller shaft and removed all of the innards. I have ordered all the replacement parts. One question. How to remove the roller bearing race that has the split in it that is pressed into the housing. Any quick tips?

It should tap out from back side; there should also be a felt seal between the race and the housing like on the front end.

I have used a pick with a 90 degree bend at the end (this one was a Sears Craftsman tool, but other makes are available) to reach in and place it in the hole located on the side about half way into the sleeve. The sleeve should pull out fairly easy. I have removed at least a dozen using this method. Don/WI

sounds like it may be called a cotter key removing tool

I used a pick (dental pic) like Don described and couldnt get it to budge. I then put a little heat on the housing surrounding the race. As soon as the grease started spitting I again used the pic and POP. out it came. Thanks fellas.
