Warford 920 transmission

My 27 yr old friend Jonathon has found a Warford 920 transmission for his 1926 Model T roadster pickup.

He needs help with instructions and installation tips.

There are instructions from Texas Ts about installing the KC Warford. Are the 2 units dimensionally the same?

Any tips or ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Depends is it cast iron, which I think that number is, and the lighter aluminum one.
Google "mtfca: Worford"
The KC Warford is is based on the aluminum version that is shorter then the correct setup for the 920 which should be the cast iron, over-direct-under drive. Did he get the brace and the piece that goes between the rear of the T engine and the Warford? The brace is needed because the cast iron is just too much weight to hang off the back of the engine from those 4 bolts. What about the driveshaft/torque tube and radius rods? If he did not get the piece that goes between the rear of the engine he can't just bolt the cast iron Warford up. The input shaft on the transmission is smaller then the hole in the T tailshaft. You use a standard T U-joint between the two.
Anyway google the link and there is a pile of info at his finger tips.

This is what the piece looks like that goes between the back of the T and the Warford;

Dick: Did you get the info. you need on the Warford installation? I have excess to an original i nstalation manual. It gives all the dimentions for installing the gearbox. I will not see the guy that has it for about three weeks, but can make a copy and send it to you. Not tech. savy enough to do it here. Dave Rezin

Sorry I have been off awhile. Jonathon did get the cast iron Warford installed and it is running fine. He is using a temporary transmission support, has yet to fab a permanent one. Brakes are an issue as well. He is looking into several possibilities. Thank you all for your ideas. And if there are good brake options we would like to hear.

There are about 4 choices for the 26 big drum rear end. Get one of the equalizer and new brake pedal with tab on it and use the rear parking brakes, find a set of original 26-27 out side brakes, Rocky Mountain brakes or the disk brakes sold by the parts suppliers.

I did get the warford installed. "Life has been busy". We just moved I still have to configure a bracket and address the lack of brakes Any suggestions?

I would love to have a copy of the instulation instructions! I winged this whole process and would be very grateful to see how they did it back in the day!

I was able to shim the input shaft of the warford to fit snug in the rear if t. With the help of a spacer I fabbed out of aluminum. It seems to have gone together very nicely. I'll post pictures as soon as I figure out how to.

YOU CAN NOT JUST SHIM THE WARFORD INPUT SHAFT INTO THE TAIL SHAFT HOLE. THERE IS TOO MUCH DIFFERENCE IN SIZE.

Read what I posted above.
