You would be better off with a steel or vitron tipped needle valve. Some people have good luck with the grosse jet type, some do not. They want to stick closed and there just is not enough head pressure from the gas tank to over come that. Both items can be gotten from a number of T parts suppliers. Get their free catalogs.
