Waldrons exhaust system (Aluminized Steel)

Just received my new replacement exhaust system and debating if I should paint it black before I install it??

I have aluminized steel exhaust that was installed over 25 years ago on a 69 Camaro SS that still looks brand new. I took it back to the exhaust shop a couple years ago to have a small repair done on one of the hangers, and the guy that did the original installation was surprised how great it still looked. I put about 1500 to 2000 miles a year on it. Rain or shine.

we had aluminized steel exhaust installed on our '41 ford in '95. was still on it when we sold in in '18 with 200K miles on it!

I made the mistake of painting an aluminized system many years ago with VHT flat black exhaust paint. By the end of summer it was getting chalky and pealing. These days I do my ccccustom exhaust in bare steel and have it professionally hot coated. It looks good after lots of miles. I do have aluminized on my driver 40 with about 6000 miles on it and the only place there's a little rust is where they welded on the hangers.
