I thought all 41-48 wagons came with 6.50 x 16 tires and spares. Have two covers that will only fit a 6.00 x 16. Am I doing something wrong??? Have wrong covers??? Help!!

I think 600/16 was the standard size. 650/16 was optional. On the other hand Mercury had 15" rims. Maybe you have Mercury tire covers. Just a thought.. Bill

On page 4-14 of the 1941-1948 Ford Book offered by the V-8 Ford club it states. "Tires for almost all Ford passenger cars of the era were size 6.00 X 16", four ply". It goes on to say, "One deviation, which did occur, was the installation of 6 ply tires on station wagons"….."Also at extra cost the station wagon could be obtained with one size larger, 6.50 X 16" tires- again 6 ply, and the related larger size tire cover (part #91CS-1351)". You have the standard cover. My 1946 Woodie had what appeared to be one original tire and it was a 6.00 X 16".

I sold my woody a long time ago and am trying to good of of memory. The part that goes around the tire does not have to fit perfect but the outside does. maybe you can tell from this photo but not sure.

If both parts, the face and the tire ring are in good shape, it should be the same distance from the edge of the face plate to the outside edge of the tire all around. If it is off center you will have problems. When you install the piece that covers the tread, it should go over the rubber seal that is mounted on the faceplate. Once you have both parts mounted you should not see the rubber seal.
