Volvo overdrives

My Laycock/volvo overdrive has a grease fitting in the torque tube so I can pump grease into the splined coupler. I've also heard that my volvo overdrives without grease fittings should be packed with RTV/silicone when they're assembled. What do you guys think?

It really depends on who modified your overdrive for use in a Model A. All builders do not use the same methods. I've used my Laycock OD for about ten years now with no greasing, no RTV. Follow the builder's advice.

I have driven the overdrive many miles in a 144 Volvo and would believe that RTV might be the end of the unit.

I have a Volvo OD and haven't greased it since new some 10 years and lots of miles since. Make sure to replace the plastic oil line as they get hard and crack. I use 30 weight in mine.
