Visor-Header conundrum

Let me preface this inquiry by indicating I have read all the posts in this forum regarding the wood header and sun-visor. I still don't get the placement of these 2 items in the great scheme of things.

I bought a 1929 Model A Coupe which been fairly well butchered by several previous owners, and worse, I have worked on cars for over 50 years, but have never worked on a Model A. This car was originally a Special Coupe(49A), since the back window went all the way down to the beltline. I managed to graft on a regular coupe back window and sheet-metal, had to completely rebuild the blown engine, and weld in many sheet-metal panels.

My attention has now turned to the roof and sun-visor, and I am stumped. The car came with an original sun-visor, and there are two tapped holes on the windshield pillar above the upper hinge on each side. I bought a flared hole visor from Howells Sheet Metal, which mounts perfectly in these holes. However, the visor has multiple holes across the top. and the visor has a slight peak and curve to it, just like the original.

Questions:
1. What does the top part of the visor with holes mount to, and what fills the gap between the top of the visor and the roof I am going to weld in place?
2. Where does the wood header go? I see carriage bolt countersunk holes in each end. Does it go inside the car in the space above the rear-view mirror mounting tab?
Any pictures would be appreciated. Maybe I'm stuck with a butcher job?

Thanks, Mark.

I appears you are missing the metal header cover. The cover slips over the front of wood header in your pictures. I believe there are 6 roundhead wood screws that attach the wood header to the top of the metal between the windshield and where the wood header goes. The metal cover has 9 or 10 holes on the under side and that is where the visor is attached through the metal cover holes into the bottom of the wood header. I have some pictures of when I installed the header on my 28 special coupe, which is just like your coupe as far as the header is concerned. An email would be an easier way to sent up pictures if you want to see them.

The above post is correct, but let me simplify it a bit. The sunvisor on any 1928-1929 coupe bolts UP into the wood header that is covered by the header cover( often called a crown molding). So.....install the wood header first to the top side of the flat piece of metal you have connecting your a pillars. Then install the crown molding to the header. Then screw the visor UP to the header (under the header wood). Then you cloth top nails to the TOP of the crown molding that has the wood header inside it.
