Vintique Products Chinese?

Tom, I still have my P-38 I used for three tours in "NAM", & it still does not need restoration !!..

OK I'm guilty of buying cheap foreign junk. I went out and tried to turn on my Dyna glo or something like that propane heater to work on my projects. the knob would not turn so i opened the regulator to have a look. Cracked plastic parts reg from Korea Back to walmart.

After wiping chrome flakes off from around my new moto-meter, and reading "Manufactured by Vintique Inc." And proudly made in the USA, i wonder if their parts are made in China? Like the Vintique hood latches i have, still in the pkg because they're going back to Mike's. Sideways, in small print it says made in Taiwan. I dont think we have a choice anymore whether to buy American made or Chi-Com products.

fritznbud,
Lots of 'wisdom' here don't you think? Does the word anachronism mean anything? That's what comes to mind when, as an ole model a owner, I think of your evaluation,i.e.- I don't think we have a choice. You/I/We(by and large older model a owners) are but a very SMALL minority out of place in time. As a small group, we still have a choice to buy junk model a parts or no. However, the only way that model a owners(or anyone other segment of American society)could put a stop to the manufacture/sales of junk parts, would be as a 100% united effort! What chance do you give that that could/would happen:eek:....that's correct zero %!
This is, and has been for some time, a throwaway country..use it once(mabe) and throw it away.
As model a owners, we know that an 80 old American made model a is something to be admired/proud of. But we are a small minority. What's made now caters to the majority ("I wannt it all and I want it now"). This burgeoning majority is caught up in a world where competition for stuff to support themselves/family is their goal. The comments on this subject are , at times, humorous. For instance...will the pendulum swing..ha,ha! Don't hold your breath waiting for that! And, don't believe that when you order parts from an "America based source" that those parts didn't come from overseas. What made you believe that they were American made??
Lastly, "don't turn political" ho,ho! They are eating our lunch...because it was handed to them by representatives of America..but for sure it wasn't political..yup!

Unfortunately we will all get a junk Model A repro from any vendor-send it back, don't use them again, settling for poor quality is part of the issue. The customer service aspect is as valuable as the product in some cases. Even the best will have an issue occassionaly; how they reslove the issue is key.

Having worked as a mechanic on the docks in Newark,N.J. for 30 years I can only agree that quality seems to have gone away for cheap goods to be thrown away after use. I remember when first starting I wondered why we would have a ship come every other Friday to load between 700 and 1000 empty containers, it didn't seem to make any sense, flash forward to 2011 and imports are 4 to 1 to exports and we load 5000 to 10,000 empty containers a week. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that we are out of options, make it here, pay more and get a quality part, we could use the work, hope this is not too political, once again it's the honest truth, you get what you pay for!
