where can I find the 49 ford F-1 info? I have a vin no:

I believe it should be on the left side of the frame by the steering box.

There is precious little to be learned from the serial numbers on this vintage.
The first character should be a 9 (unfortunately, Ford also used the same initial character in 1950)
Second and third characters: either 7H (226 I6 engine) or 8R (239 V8)
Fourth character: C is the half ton
Everything beyond the fourth character is a production sequence number with no meaning today
If there are characters either stamped or painted on the cowl in the engine bay, they can be decoded by some smarter folks on the ford-trucks.com site.
