VIN Frame Stamps

Does anyone have any information on where to locate the correct frame star stamp for a 1956 Ford? How about the size of the numbers on the frame - anyone know this.

Thanks for any help

Paul

You can carefully modify the I by removing the top and bottom and laying out the star carefully and then stamping each leg. But the stamp can still be bought. Look for an ornamental iron or machine shop catalog.

Good luck,
Tim

A friend of mine bought a 53 F 100 and could not find the VIN on it. It was not on the left or right frame rail, but on the front crossmember under the radiator. It seems that the different assembly plants used different locations as they pleased.

You friend's truck was a different year and model and that is why the VIN was on the front crossmember. It has nothing to do with different assembly plants.

Ditto. Me too. He's got the star as a stock item. He also had some letters made for me from pictures to perfectly match the unusual factory shapes. Was a fair and honest person to deal with too. Stu
