Does anyone know if the '30 Victoria leatherback and steelback shared the same rear tire inner support bracket? Does anyone have a picture of this or these brackets?
Thanks,
Pat
As I recall, they are very different. If you are restoring a Vicky, great information is available in The Bustle, the quarterly newsletter of the Victoria special interest Club. Try http://www.victoriaassociation.com/. 25 years of back issues are available for (probably) less than they cost to photocopy. In 25 years The Bustle has addressed just about every special feature/part of the Victoria.
Sorry, that's the best I have. The car is now finished (see avatar) and the rear seat doesn't fold enough to photograph.
The Victoria Assocation sells two great books that may have the info. you need. Lots of "Vicky Only" stuff.
The Victoria Association offers a book titled "A Pictorial Guide to the Mechanical Features of the Model A Ford". There is a section by Anders Ramberg that has three dimentional drawings of all three part numbers. The brackets are quite different from each other. The publication will tell you everything you want to know about the brackets.
The book is available from the Victoria Association by contacting Charlie Viosca at viosca4@aol.com. I believe the cost is $35. The money goes to support the Model A Ford Youth Scholarship Program. The Victoria Association is the sponser. If you care to join the association the fee is only $10 a year. For membership contact Vern Schwebke at vern190a@cox.net. The Victoria Association publishes four newsletters a year. A complete set of back issues is available clear back to its inception in 1986.
The inner brackets are different between the leatherback & steelback Victorias.
The difference is the attachment at the top of the bracket to the wood framework below the window. The bracket for the leatherback attaches to the bottom of the wood framwork, this is seen in the photo James Heider provided.
Several sections of the book are specific to the Victoria, such as the Ambers Ramberg and Bob Bidonde sections. There is a section with all of Howard Barn's copy writed drawings (with his permission before he passed away). There is also a section by Aldie Johnson about the Model A postal truck bodies. Several other sections are more general to the Model A.
