Veterans day thanks

Thanks Bill, I am sure there are many here who served our country with pride. I bet there is a lot of different stories that could be told. I got drafted in 1970 and was stationed in Germany, medic/ mechanic. May God be with our troops today

Remember also those who can't be home for Thanksgiving. My nephew served in the Marines in Iraq, we had a wounded buddy of his and his wife, who were at Walter Reed, for Thanksgiving. Nice people. He was getting a lot of help from the Wounded Warrior program. There are a lot of guys like him still in the military hospitals and rehab centers. Amazing stuff. He was a double amputee above both knees and was walking!

Bill, thanks for posting. As a veteran myself, I give thanks to all who have served and all who are serving now and yet to become veterans.

I pray every day that God will protect those serving overseas and bring them home safe. I also have a son serving in the Air Force, don't know what happened there, I was Army :).

Thanks to all Veterans.

Definately a big THANK YOU to all that serve or have served !!!!! And a prayer for those that didn't make it . God Bless

My father and my son have served and are serving at this time.
Thank you for your support and THANK YOU for your service and sacrifice for this country.
I shudder where and what we would have become without all of your help.

This morning I got a call from my grandson. "Thanks gramps" he said, "for what' I said. " For being my grandpa." "It's Veterans day".

My daughter texted me a message to her fave vet, her dad. I'd do it again. My thanks to those that gave that died for our freedom, and have served and are in harm's way.

My four years in the USN were served during peacetime. In remembering those who were not so lucky, I'm embarrassed at the Thank-You's I get. My Thanks to our fallen and Wounded Vets, and to every family that has sacrificed for us.

I also served in the Navy while there was no shooting going on. But, we really rattled some sabers at different times. I've always felt that it is a big crap shoot as to if you miss "hot" action.

I'm one of those who believes that everyone should serve in some form or another. Every kid out of high school should be required to do something, peace corp, military, border patrol, just something. NO SILVER SPOONS, ala Creedence Clearwater Revival. Really galls me right now that there is a political candidate with many sons and not one of them have served. GMAFB!

Thank you Veterans! I still proudly serve in the U.S. Army Reserves/ Tikrit Iraq 2004. I pray for all my fellow soldiers,Sailors and Marines that are still out there.

Duff here in SE Wisconsin. I just got off the phone minutes ago with my cousin Joel who served in 'Nam in the early 1970"s. He expeienced some of the worst, made it home and now after all these years is experiencing
signficant health issues that are in fact related to Agent Orange.. Just couldn't let today go by without checking on him and letting him know that I pray for him daily. I thanked him for his service and for fighting the war of my generation. I could tell that he really appreciated the call and he said that he has and wll conintue to pray for me every day. I had a heart valve replaced in early July. I feel like I've been riding a camshaft all summer and fall. UP & down, up & down. But,.. God's grace is suficient! Thanks to all our vets both he's & she's and greetings and blessings to all of you "old car people."

A very sincere thanks to all of the Vets on this forum and everywhere! I spent a very special Veteran's Day visiting my mother in W. Tennessee. We went to the town cemetary and put flags on the graves of the 6 most influential people in my life. One of my grandfathers fought in Europe in WWI. My other grandfather served our country stateside in WWII. They both got flags. Next, Uncle Tim and Uncle Lawson, US Army and US Navy, in Harm's Way during WWII, 2 more flags! Next was Uncle TC. He hit the beaches at Normandy and received a Purple Heart with 2 Oak Clusters by the time he proudly marched into Germany in '45. 1 more flag! Last, and certainly not least, was my dad! Veteran of the Korean Police Action and Vietnam, and the "Cold War"! 6th and last flag! It was cold and windy on Friday and all 6 flags were waving proudly!

I come from a family of veterans, myself included, and I feel as 36t-bird does. Everyone should have to serve, reinstate the draft, no outs for school or anything. Most of the physically unfit could serve stateside doing office type work. The polititions gall me to, but for a different reason than t-bird. I think that in order to run for office you should have to be a veteran. I also think that before you get to tell the people on the lines how to fight a war, you should be required to have been on the lines, the front lines. To heck with the Geneva convention also. Before I get myself upset here:

Thank You to ALL VETERANS for you sacrificing a time out of your life, or sadly, your life, so that I and my loved ones could continue to live the life that we do. Thank you again, and I wish nothing but the best for you and yours.
