Veteran's Day Dedication Ceremonies

Yesterday, 11/11/11, Veteran’s Day, we dedicated this airplane to the MAPS Museum in North Canton, Ohio. A local 496th Fighter Interceptor Squadron member and a group of dedicated friends restored this North American F-86D to replicate one of our airplanes that we worked on back in the 50’s in Germany.

As I saw it for the first time I got cold chills. It was a sight to behold and something I hadn’t seen since 1959, other than pictures. We had an opportunity to sit in the cockpit and reminisce those days long gone. A squadron officer dedicated the airplane in the name of a pilot that perished in a crash near Landstuhl, Germany in 1957.

Many, many thanks to all of you Veterans out there.
