Very Sad Classic Ford Rollover

Just last Thursday a 1915 Model T touring through Zion's National Park with a group went off the road, rolled, ejected all 4 passengers, and killed the mother of the 19 year old driver. Very sad indeed. Can't be too careful driving our old classic cars. Even though my single lap belt across the whole front seat may not work as well as a three point individual belt for head on collisions at least it will keep us in the car if it rolls. Many fatalities are caused by being ejected from the car.

Due to the fact it's a touring car I doubt if seat belts would've helped. Actually being thrown free from that car may have saved some lives.

They were obviously Trying to get young people into the hobby to ,its a shame ,If you have driven a T you will notice the steering has a mind of its own ,

Oh it probably looked worse than that before it was rebuilt.. It will live again,, the lady will not.

The accident wasn't caused by a problem with steering. The young man pulled off onto the shoulder to let traffic by. His front right wheel was a little too far off the road and when he tried to steer the car back onto the road the extra weight in the car and angle of the ground caused the wooden spokes to break which caused the car to roll.

Just wondering/thinking that the spokes should be expected to handle those kind of side loads....wondering if the wheel had other issues that could have caused its failure.

Real sad. Poor bugger ...he has to live with the fact his mother was killed when he was driver.
