vermilion red

Hi

I am restoring a 1931 OCPU and chose to use Vermillion Red as the color.

I took a paint chip from the referenced book to a PPG dealer here in Denver and this is what it turned out to look like.

Paint is Single Stage and is color sanded and polished.

Surprisingly, we painted one of my sons 1965 Mustang Fastback with
PPG Rangoon Red (original factory color) and it is really hard to tell the difference!

The Rangoon might be a little more red at
first but after aging a few years they are almost identical. In fact, we call his Mustang "Rangoon Orange "now).

A hint of orange like Porshe red.

I agree,Porshe red is purdy close. I used Porshe red on the wheels of my 31 tudor. I bought Porshe red in Western brand alkyd enamel for a fraction of the cost of other brands . When a good grade of hardener is used, alkyd enamel holds up quite well. I keep mine inside when not in use and it has held up real good for the past 15 years .
