Valve Spring Compressor

Ruth--AS I recall the double lock lifter are 7/16 but not so sure I would buy before a measurement. The thin wrenches are found by luck. They are cheaply made and only turn up occasionally. Easiest is to grind down an ordinary wrench.

I've done both. Thin wrenches are on my "shopping list" at Carlisle and Hershey.

My car came with a toolbox with a set of thin wrenches. I measured the inner width and decided to grind down a new quality wrench with a closer width to prevent rounding up a nut. I would recommend doing this, since "used" wrenches seem always a bit loose. If you mess up a nut ... then the fun starts.

Are the wrenches you got 7/16" and ½"? Just double checking before I grind some wrenches. I am trying to get everything together before I travel over to his house.

Yes even better than expected. After 2 valves I rounded the v-shape top a bit to make it fit better, but for the cheapest valve compressor ever, it works great. It may take a little more time, but it's not too bad. It works best if you us a 1/2" ratchet wrench.

Thank you for that info
Like Grampa always said "You never know unless you try, and unless you try, you'll never know"

Please take a look at post #12. Has anyone used these types of tools before? How did they work? Do you think they are any good?

I will be doing some valve work this winter and I am getting prepared.
