Hey John,
You should NOT be able to just 'push in'. There should be enough 'interference' fit to press in. For us without pro machinery, etc, I've used brass drift and lead hammer with just enough force to slowly get job done.

John, start back at the beginning. Are you dealing with original-style two-piece guides, or a one piece guide? If using two piece guides, are the two a matched set??

Thank you all .will put guides in the freezer over night. Am using new two peace guides and new valve . John thanks

Vince thanks for the link, i bought 2 boxes of them just to have:).. cheaper than the repos available.
See anything else out there i need or dont need???

Same here I have been saving them for a long time. I use every original part I can. Ford used good steel and had close tolerance on there parts. Not so with a lot of the reproduction parts.

Thats funny::: i went back to the Ebay Ad as there were 3 boxes left after i purchased my two. Now there all gone:)....the seller should give Vince a commission.
