Value of rebuildable shocks

I was offered a pair of shocks for the front of my 39 pickup for $50 each. There was no resistance on the arms and the arms did not wooble in the shaft. I thought this was high and said so and the owner took offence. Was I wrong and were these shocks worthy of a $165 rebuild?

IMHO $50 each for rebuild-able shocks is to much if you are not desperate, especially if you enjoy going to swap meets. I paid $5 each for a beautiful pair of shocks at LARS in June. But last winter when I was DESPERATE to keep progressing on my AV8 chassis I paid $150 for a working but pitted set of 4 shocks (I only needed two). I replaced the pitted ones with the nice $5 LARS shocks.

Check with Bill Wzorek the shock rebuilder, he will tell you the fair price to pay for rebuildable cores. He is also, IMO, the best person to rebuild your shocks.

Fair price is $5.00 ---- $20.00 for rebuildable cores :D
And were you going to trough another $165.00 at each to rebuild ?

All four move with some resistance. Still mounted on the frame, likely for another week or two. Finally got the cab removed late last week. With the frontend and rearend missing it was hard to get to cab mount bolts. Beleive the cab is sold at ths point. Will start removing chassis parts as soon as time permits. Rod

No more 32 shocks left in the Model A shock box. Sold a real nice pair a couple of years ago. They were mounted on my Model A. Rod

The same day that I turned down the $50. worn out shocks, I purchased 3 shocks and 2 links that offered resistance for $35. I understand that the seller of the $50 dollar shocks is still upset with me. Tough.
