Vacuum Wiper Repair-Speed Control

Does anyone know how the variable speed control works on the Trico wipers used on ‘37’s? I realize that it has to be some type of reduction of the amount of vacuum that’s allowed to the internals of the motor. My question is how is that reduction achieved? A diaphragm? A valve? I have one that I can’t get any air to move through…either direction.

I was told by a wiper repair company that they are not repairable. If you can find one that passes vacuum and does not leak you can use it that way, even though it may not regulate speed.

You might try turning it all the way in and blowing it out with high pressure air then turning it all the way out and doing it again. Tim

Here is one I opened up a few yrs ago.Compressed air might blow out the diaphragm. Contact The Wiper Man or Clean Sweep in OR.They might have a good one lying around.
