Happy 4th anyone know size of threaded plug to put in vacuum hole on manifold I thought it was a threaded 1/8" to large.

Close but NO brass ring. Its 7/16 X 20 and must be used with a fiber or copper sealing washer. Its the same size as a Stromberg inlet thread. I have the proper fitting but hate to modifiy them for plugging purpouses. ken ct. There too hard to find, ken ct 1-203-360-5945. cell.

Wow Ken, the thought did cross my mind but I put the vacuum line in without washers when I installed the correct aluminum manifold on my 36. Sorry about your torture session at rehab yesterday. No pain, no gain!!

Inlet thread is 7/16-24.

If you guys are talking about the inlet on a 36 aluminum intake, which is the same size as the vacuum inlet of the 37-41 distributor, it's DEFINATELY 3/8-24. I just measured it on my 36 intake and the 37-41 distributor I took off.

It is vacuum line on a 37 for windshield wiper would like to plug permanently. Is this something that can be purchased at hardware store that sells plumbing supplies

Check a hardware store for a 3/8-24 allen or slotted setscrew. If you can't fine one, I have the fitting you can plug.

NO a HW store or Plumbing place will NOT have them. I have both types but im confused by whitch ones you want. ken ct. Roadster5040 call me where getting nowhere!!!!!!!! ken ct, 1-203-260-5945 cell

Ken, Ace Hardware has quite a selection of setscrews. I thought perhaps a 3/8-24 would be one of them. I wasn't referring to an actual brass fitting. A setscrew would not have to be modified to use as a plug, just screw it in and be done.

Roadster, I just looked thru an assortment of setscrews I have and found one. If you want it let me know but I'm sure Ace has them.

I have a Mallory distributor on my '34 roadster which I bought from Patricks some 18 or 20 years ago. I just plugged the hole in the original brass fitting with a dab of JB Weld and it still works just fine.

Yea,Dean is probebly right,i didn't think of allen set screws. ken ct. put somr lite lock-tite on the threads for sealent, ken ct, no silicone or teflon tape please.
