vacuum, 34 flathead 8

I finally got some time to work on my engine (new intake gasket, rebuild fuel pump, rebuild distributor, plug wires and so on).
Now I'm trying to figure out the vacuum lines.
I have one from the intake to the distributor, then I have a port that appears to be vacuum further back on the intake. I don't know what it goes to?
Also the carburetor has a threaded port on the back lower right hand side?(will post Photo- ASAP )
I have to say working on this engine shows me how little I know about anything before the 60s

That distributor is crazy!!!
Thanks in advance for any advise!

While you're at it, what kind of carburetor do you have? (It should be a Stromberg 97, but a lot have been changed along the way.) A few pictures of the areas in question wouild certainly help. In addition to the vacuum port to the distributor, there should be one for the windshield wiper(s).

Thank you for theresponse. I will block the port on the intake for now.
Here are some picturesof the carburetor, the port appears to be blocked off internally, but I’m not sure.

slight thread hyjack here, but where can you get the fittings to make the vacuum lines? parts counter guys just look at me funny when i ask!

For that particular port in the back I just used a fitting for a 3/16 brake line with a stub of a 3/16 brake line(flared).Worked fine-no vacuum leak.

Being a "shoebox" guy, I don't know much about Stromberg 97's, but that vacuum port in your pictures puzzles me. I don't remember standard 97's having them. I do know that Stromberg made some 94 replacements with provisions for the "Load-a-Matic" vacuum line; perhaps it's one of those?

C'mon 97 guys, you can do better than me.

With respect...I believe the 1934 V8 used a Stromberg 40 or 48. The 97 came out a little later. I have an intake like yours and I was told that is was correct for the late '34 or early '35. Pat

So I should have said just "Stromberg" rather than "Stromberg 97". Big deal; I said I was no expert on these and was just trying to get this guy some help. Where are all the experts? They're usually all over something like this.

The port shown looks like a ferrule type connection, I have found these type fittings at the hardware store in those specialty boxes , (never ask a hardware store person for a car part), they always tell me to go elsewhere, I bought some 8BA Distributor line ferrule type fittings and fuel line fittings from the bin marked for thermocouple connections as used on home gas hot water heaters.

by golly going from memory i believe you are correct, those do look like a thermo fitting! now to find a real hardware store. the good ones have all closed here

I think that carb is of the later variety. Look at the base. It's triangular rather than rounded like most all 97's & 48's I've seen

My goodness, if only Ken was still around! DD

Thanks for the info. I did find plugs at the hardware store,I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t supposed to run lines to them in preparationto get it running. After digging in to the engine a little, I can see my fatherdid have it rebuilt, then it sat in a barn for about 30 years. The engine wasvery dry, I pulled the intake and heads off to clean and inspect, then oiledeverything I could before reassembly. NowI need to order the longer fuel pump pushrod to get it running.
Thanks again for everyone’s help.
