V8-60 Water temp gauge location

My 17 stud heads do not have anywhere to put the water temp gauge line. The 90 degree spouts are bolted on, so could be removed. Any ideas on finding a way to install the gauge? Had hoped for a find under "wanted", but no luck. No where on the block that I can see of. Thanks

My 17 stud head on the driver's side is drilled and tapped on a little flat landing on the water outlet on the firewall side for the original temp gauge.

I've had several V8-60's with the Edelbrock heads from midgets and in 2 of them the water outlets were home made with the provision for the temp bulb. Just a flange with a tube that had a bung welded to the side drilled and threaded for a temp bulb. They were using a short bulb not the long Ford one.

Thanks fellas, looks like I'll have to be creative. Had hoped there was an easy fix. I have the long spout on the gauge, so I may have to find the shorter one. Let me know if you know of anyone that just sits around and makes these.

I cut a piece of exh. pipe about 3in. long that fits inside the top hose. Drill a hole in the pipe and brass a fitting in that fits your heat guage. Cut a piece out of the hose and insert the exh. pipe and hose clamp it in. Walt

The temp gauge fits on the nipple of the driver's side head right behind the water outlet. It's like the fitting on the 85 hp head. It looks like the 85 hp fitting would fit.

My engine is later than the tin-side but before 1940. See my avatar.
