V8-60 oil pressure

Fresh build everyhting seems good however.
The oil pressure is stable at 40PSI above 2000RPM
It remains there as the engine worms up. Just as the engine reaches full operating temp. The oil psi drops to may 5psi. I have used a mechanical gauge to verify pressure.

The relief spring look OK, I did shim it a tiny bit. but the oli pressure is perfect until peak operating temp.

Could the spring be losing strength when it heats up?

I am at a loss on this. Has anyone ever had this issue?

Thanks
Tom

what was done to the oil pump?
what bearing clearances? New cam bearings?— what clearances?
my experience with engine that was rebuilt with nos Ford parts included complete oil pump was 15 lbs at hot idle.
the pressure relief spring will only limit high oil pressure amount.
taking the pan off and using a pressure pot to put oil pressure to check for leaking bearings—- they should only drip

check the pickup for a hairline crack or warped fitting . it could be sucking air as it gets warm [cold thick oil seals the crack warm it up and it thins out a bit and leaks air] cummins have had about 5 recalls/updates over the years for exactly the same problem
