Stock V8-60 with a two carburetor intake... The last two cylinders on the right side, 3 and 4, aren't firing. Here's what I have checked;
Grounded spark plugs one at a time and no RPM drop with 3 and 4. The spark jumps to the grounding wire so it's getting there. Swapped wires 3 and 4 just for the hell of it. tried different spark plugs...
Checked out the distributor and it all looks good.
Compression test shows about 80 psi on three "strokes" of the gauge needle on all eight cylinders.
No apparent vacuum leaks
I pulled the Eddy Meyer intake and looked for obstructions or cracks. Stromberg #81 carbs are ok. It idles steady and as smooth as an 8 running on 6 cylinders can idle.
So then I pulled the head... No signs of a blown head gasket....The two intake valve heads are wet from unburned fuel. Valves move up and down..
Ideas? thanks
