V8-60 front cover replacement

When replacing the front cover with waterpumps, etc., do you run into the crank seal or anything unmanageable?

The original engine mounts were broken and brazed so I'd like to replace them for looks. The engine runs great so I don't want to have to drop the pan. Thanks.

As I recall, the front cover comes off just like the 85 horse engine. Is that correct,Junky John? I saw a V860 at your shop.Ajohn

Changing the timing cover is just like any other flathead engine. The only thing you have to consider is the design of the cover, early designs have tapered seat pumps later design have straight seat pumps. Take Bruce's advice and order Rich Willims book if you want info on 60 hp hop up .

John,
I have one sitting in my garage. I just looked at it and it appears you only have the top half of the crank seal "rope" (or "grub" as we used to call them) to contend with. No big deal. Good luck.
