v8-60 block ID?

I am trying to narrow down a year for a v8-60 block ('38-'40), it has a "K65" cast into the top middle of the bell housing. I checked all the usual sites & did several search's on here & the Hamb and none of the info jives with "K65".
Its a cast iron block w/steel sleeves. I have no crank or rods for it so I don't know if it had flanged or non-flanged bearings?
anyone have any thoughts?

If the crankcase breather comes off the top left of the bellhousing it will be '37 - '39. If none at that location will be a '40. If there is a small "flange" with the hole blocked at the top left of the bellhousing it is a later replacement block that can be used in either configuration.

Early ones had tin sides. If it's all cast then its a later block. There were enough English Ford type vehicles imported that it could also be from the UK.

It has a hole on the top left of the (driver side) of the block with a freeze plug in it, so I am guessing Gary is correct and it is a later replacement block,
thanks guys!

here are some pics of the block and the bell housing casting number ,for those of you that asked.

Thanks Walt ,It's actually a pre-war open wheeled midget. I got a few PM's on the subject & was just thinking of doing a build thread showing what I started with & where I am at now? So keep an eye out for the thread in a few days.

I'll be watching for it next year. Thanks Walt

"Only the Shadow knows when he will post the pics." Sorry, couldn't resist. I'll be looking forward to the thread because I have a spare '40 60 that needs to be in something. I've thought of a knock-off midget for it.
