Using stock heads question

Long story short I purchased a project that the motor was already rebuilt. It has Offy heads and I want to put stock heads back on. My question is I have a set of stock heads that I had the machine shop clean up and mill. But two of the exhaust areas are nasty looking. Machine shop said it won't hurt nothing. Is it important for them areas to be nice and smooth?
 
Your heads are probably OK. Pictures or maybe a clearer definition of "nasty looking" would be helpful. If you install stock heads that have been milled, be sure to check piston and valve clearance. Good luck.
 
Sorry, the area of exhaust and intake valves. I don't know what that would be called. I'll post a pic in a few days when I get home..
