Looking for an auto parts speedometer cable. The core of mine today got twisted so badly that I couldn't remove it so I need the whole assembly. I had it custom made ten years ago by speedoservice.com, but hoping to get something USA auto parts Napa, O'Reilly, etc. Threading shown below. current length is 41.5 and could use a little longer.

bought a 70" one from Third Gen Automotive (99a-17260-C) a while back for my '41 deluxe. it's working well. was about $20.00. advertised as "NEW 1940-48 Ford replacement speedometer cable 70".

had to cut the old one it in two pieces to get it out and there was no way to get it back through the hole is shared with the E-brake cable. so cut a new hole in the toe board just for it. turns out that hole has been put to good use for a couple of other wires/cables too.

Thanks Huey, problem is without a loop, the stock cables are too long. I did find in the green book a 54" long one for a truck, but it is not readily available:

54" Commercial 1942-1947- Trucks except COE

I'm going back to https://www.speedoservice.com/ where I bought the cable ten years ago.

Not sure why you don't get Rusty at Speedometer Service in Colorado to make you another one? From first hand experience his work is top notch, reasonably priced with fair shipping and fast turn around.

Yes, I sent him a query yesterday and waiting to hear back. I’ve bought two cables from him in the past and he’s good. I want to take the car to a meet this Saturday and wanted to quickly get it replaced.

Use a Garmin (if you have one) as a substitute until you can get a cable.

Yes, I have a couple of Garmins and also Speedometer Pro app on my iPhone which I had to use when I had trouble with my speedometer.

I just wanted to tell you what a great stand up vendor Rusty is. I bought a cable from him and had in hand about four days later, very good from CO to Maine. I had a bad time threading the male end into my Columbia speedometer speed changer. I was able to file and file to get it to work. I dropped a note to Rusty as an FYI regarding his fitting supplier.

Well, turned out that the fitting was metric! Rusty called me and said he was going to replace it and I told him not a problem, but he insisted. I got another cable from him Friday night and put it in yesterday and it is great and so is Rusty!

It's nice to know that there are still vendors, like Rusty, who go the extra mile.
THANK YOU RUSTY.
