Upper Radiator Hoses

Found that my radiator has a larger diameter radiator hose "tubing" than the water neck on my 8ba heads. Bought the water necks from speedway. Is there suppose to be a difference or do I have the wrong parts? Thanks

Yes, there is a difference between 8BA sizes and 59 AB sizes. Go to the local home improvement store (Lowes, Home Depot) and buy some hard copper reducers in the plumbing section. I believe 1 1/2" to 1 1/4". The O.D. of the 1 1/2" is 1 3/4 (appx) and the other end is right at 1 1/4." Two short 1 3/4 I.D. hoses will connect the reducers to the radiator; two longer 1 1/4 I.D hoses will connect the reducers to the engine. That was my way.

Another way is to slide a piece of the 8BA hose over the water neck and then slide the 59A hose over that. did this in the radiator of my 48 Ford and it has held for over 20 years.
