Seems like every Tuesday ( my dedicated car day) the arctic wind swoops down on Kansas and that has really slowed progress, but I am thankful for the barn and barn cats that keep the mice at bay. Life is good.
All the news is good. Put MMO in the cylinders and let sit over Christmas. Last week, we pushed the car in gear and the engine turned freely. Mister Ford is now on jack stands in prep for dropping gas tank & oil pan and working on brakes and wheel bearings -- once the temp gets warm enough to feel my fingers. Also got the trunk latch open via a trip thru the back seat. The trunk floor liner is toast but the floor appears solid. Yay.
Would appreciate advice:
1. For softening old rubber gaskets, is there anything better than Vasoline?
2. Mystery #1: To the best of my knowledge, this car is stock, yet the front doors have different panels than rear doors -- see pics -- same color but rear has stitching. Additionally, the rear passenger compartment has (factory) carpet but the front has rubber mat. What's the chance that Ford started putting 1951 items in end-of-model 1950 cars? Where would I find the last serial number for the 50 fords assembled at that plant?
Thanks for your help and encouragement. Tony
