This water pump came off of a Model "A" head, in my 55 plus years of Model "A" mechanicing I have never seen one like it.

I have plenty of re-buildable cores. I was just curious if anyone knew who made this pump and if parts are available for it.

I have a simular one. Decided to just hang it on the wall since with over 20 cores there is no good reason to mess with it. Rod

The impeller looks similiar to the one used on the pumps that Rex Reheis rebuilt. Rex told me a story about a 35 Ford that his father had and how many miles it went and the water pump never needed repair. This isn't a Rex pump because his had a packing nut. I've got a couple or more of the pumps like the one that you have pictuerd. Most were got in collections of parts and I've never tried them. I had one on a strip down back in the mid seventies and it didn't leak. I figure the pump is some aftermarket ,improvement type pump. Maybe Western Auto. It may be that a V8 seal may fit your pump. I never throw away the unusual model A stuff, its good for a conversation piece if nothing else.

My favorite aftermarket Model A water pumps are the ones with a cavity that gets filled with waterproof grease. The one on my deluxe delivery has been working great with no leaks for 8 years and +- 10,000 miles.

As Kurt in NJ said, that's likely a 37-48 V8 pump seal. FAR superior and longer lasting than the tiny seals used in the currently available 'leakless' pumps.

The large spring seal floats on the shaft, permitting some radial runout that will ruin the present "leakless" designs. The currently available leakless pumps have no spring to maintain positive shaft contact. The impeller design of your pump is highly cavitation resistant, and recovers quickly when air is encountered. The standard "A" impeller is inferior in steam/air mix situations.

If you don't want that pump, sell it to me ! It probably needs a new custom made shaft, and THIS SEAL. If a dummy packing nut were slipped over the shaft on re-assembly it would pass muster with the tire-kickers.
