Unknown part on Intake Manifold

Looking through pictures of Model A engines on the internet some engines have a tube that runs from the intake manifold to the passenger side of the firewall below the gas tank. I was wondering if anyone would have time to tell me what that tube does? Thanks.

I use it for my dilithium crystal injector.
I made the Kepler run in 2.3 parsecs

I didn't realize some Model A's had vacuum wipers, thank you all, for the answer. I'll think I'll avoid installing a dilithium crystal injector though, it would seem the car could only be used on sunny days.

I had a bolt in my intake. Turns out it was 1/4 tapered pipe thread, and the bolt was just over hand tight. This provided a massive vacuum leak. I ended up replacing the manifold. I was going to thread a tapered pipe plug in to seal it up, however I haven't done that yet.

No problems with vacuum leaks with this manifold. Going back to the correct electric wiper on my 29 tudor.

I went and got the vacuum wiper for my car, rebuilt it, then realized it was going to be such a hassle to install the vacuum lines that a electric would be much easier,

What was the purpose of the extra bolt/hole in your manifold?

I have no idea??? It was in there when I bought the car. The vacuum leak did contribute to how the engine ran, so that nugged the price down a bit. I didn't see the bolt until I got the car home, and spent more time studying the car.

Marshall is correct on vacuum wipers but if you ever wanted Nitrous Oxide System who knew Models A come stock with injector port.

Now, THAT'S funny!!!! I wonder how all those muscle car and engine hop-up TV shows missed demonstrating hooking up a NOS on a Model A??? They did it on every other car made since 1957. You're right - only the Model A has that port already to go. The other cars need a hole drilled. Henry WAS way ahead of his time! :)
