I received a bill out of the blue for $50 from my ins. co., the former Grundy now Philadelphia ins. co. It states nowhere on the bill why they are charging me an extra $50. Has this happened to anyone else?

Mike

I am not an expert but I didn't think they could go back and raise your rate if you already paid for the year and didn't have any changes. I will be interested in seeing what they say.

Here is an idea...call them and ask and see what they say about it.

That is on the docket for today. I will post an answer, just wanted to see if anyone else had this issue.

I called and they told me that I made a payment in Jan. and that I should disregard the statement. The only problem that I have with that is that I DIDN'T make a payment in Jan. I think they posted a payment from someone elses policy to my account, so makesure you check your bill carefully folks.

The recent issue of Old Cars Weekly had an article about Grundy taking back the collector car insurance from Philadelphia not long ago.

That tells me that 1.) Jim Grundy sold out of course that is the reason for building up ANY business and 2.) Philly Ins. isn't worth a damn, there must have been problems. They decided it was more 'complicated' than they thought.

I currently have Grundy. Plan on going back to Haggerty in September when my policy expires. Grundy makes me a bit nervous after this happened.

In your reason # 2 above, where did you come up with these FACTS ? YOU ARE SPECULATING, MAKING THINGS UP ....

Why don't you call them direct and ask them what if any problems they are having and then report back here with the factual answer and not just guess or wonder what the status is and say you are nervous with and slander the company ?

;)I received a $25.00 refund check from Philadelphia Ins . Co. last week with with a letter stating it repesented the return premium amount of my policy. Very rare to get money back from an insurance co.

I just renewed my insurance on- line direct to Philadelphia Insurance Company on 3/10/12; it covered my 3 A's; there was no change in the cost from my pervious policy.
My policy # starts with GD-----------, just as it did when I first went with Grundy. I had the choice of paying on-line , by telephone ' or mailing in my check.

I had a claim last year, handled by Philadelphia who was the under-writer for Grundy, I have never had such good service in all my life; because I did the remove and replace of the radiator and hood, the adjuster even allowed me money for doing this work; the adjuster said" If a body shop had done the work they would have charged for remove and replace so we will conpensate you for your work"
When I hear people say Philadelphia are bad to deal with, I do not believe they know what they are talking about.!!!!

Philadelphia paid for a new Brass works Radiator, paid for rhe repair and painting of the hood, paid my out of pocket expense for towing. The only thing I paid for was a new 2 blade fan from Bratton's. The damage occured when my original 2 blade fan lost a blade while traveling at about 45 miles per hour, 125 miles from home.

The claim was setteled and I had a check in hand in 2 weeks from Philidelphia Insurance.

What rider on your policy covers parts failure. I have Grundy ins. and have never saw that one. Maybe I need to look harder!

Wow, wait until the advocates of "not using original two-blade fans" get this report!!
