Under body preservation

I have a question for you guys...I just bought a complete rolling chassie for my 30 coupe. I'm going to pick it up Sat. I got it from a guy that told me it was an uncompleted restoration. He bought it for the body...said he was told that everything had been gone through...fresh motor, ****** and rear, new brakes, Basically totally restored. It looks real good in the pics...I hope it is everything it seems to be.
I don't plan to restore my body, I like it just as it is. My question is....what do you suggest I do to the bottom of the body while I have it off to help preserve it. I was thinking maybe por15. Also, did anyone on here own this car? If so could you give me any info on it. I was thinking someone might recognize the frame. I'll try to put some pics of the frame and my car. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Sorry I can't seem to post any pics. I don't know why I've posted pics before. I click on Manage Attachments and the browse box dosen't come up. Could anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

I'm with Ed on this and POR-15. Cleaning would depend on what the underside looks like. Rust needs to be sandblasted away.

when we bought our unrestored Coupe, it had very light surface rust on the entire underside of the body & running boards.

I wire brushed it lightly where I could, then soaked it with Ospho from a spray bottle , then a few days later wire brushed it again where needed and rattle-can painted it with Rustoleum satin black.

on my back on the floor it was a very character-building experience. wish I had gotten the Backyard Buddy lift a few years earlier.

4-5 years later the body still shows no new rust.

If the frame is rusted I would suggest like others to wire brush and
also using various products that attach to drills to get into tight areas.
Their are rough pads and sanding drums for drills and look online
and you will find many tools to use today.

Their is a primer paint that is used in military called Acid wash and I have used
this and this really etches into the metal and stops most moisture from getting into metal to allow rust to continue.
It goes on like water..And you use throw away brushes putting it on.

I really like this paint..

You can do google search for Acid Etch Wash Primer.
It is used for Marine and Aircraft use.
I use it for just about anything I am going to keep for myself long term.
It is expensive but goes a long way ..Just don't waste it and mix in small
amounts and think you will really be happy with results.
1 place that sells quarts is Aircraft Spruce.com..
It is 2 parts you have to purchase..Joe
You may contact a Marine Supply in your area and found some.

There is a product from "Loctite" called "Extend'. It goes on over rust and neutralizes it so you are ready to paint. It is especially good in those tight areas that you cannot get to with anything to physically remove it. You can go on the Loctite web site and get info on it. I am not sure if anyone here has used it on any parts of an A but I have had great success with it on many applications, including marine.

Thanks guys...I appreciate all your responses. When I get the body off and see what I have I'll go from there. This is a car that has no rust through. and I want to keep it that way. I think it was a company car of some kind, and didn't see the kind of roads that the average model A did. The reason I say this is because it has some kind of logo on both doors that is on the original black paint. It was painted blue at some point and it is coming off around the door handles and I can see the original paint and pinstripe. So my next question is....would it be possible to take the blue paint off...if so what would be the best way? I really want to get it off of the logo to see what it says. Then I would like to take the whole car down to the original paint. I like the looks of a black car with blackwall tires, and black rims. I love the patina on the car but I'm not fond of the color or the tires and wheels. As usual I appreciate any help I can get.
