un-mothballing a T

This Model T was inherited by my neighbors wife, from her brother, who got it from his dad and he got it from his brother in 1962. Last ran in 1982 by her dad when he used it for parades. This T was bought new by Her uncle Pete in 1923, the only car he ever owned! Suposedly driven once a month to town and kept in the barn all its life! I had fun helping my neighbor go over the checklist (thanks D. Money) and brining it back to life. This has been a lot of fun, car runs very good and they will get to drive it in the 4th of July parade around our lake! To say she is excited is unbelieveable since she used to get to ride in it when she was a child :). So I thought I would share this with everyone. John

Thanks for sharing. It is amazing how many of these come back to life after sitting
for ever. I have one of my Dad's that sat since 1966. He had drained the gas tank luckily\
so firing it up after all that time was fairly easy. I runs like it never was parked that long.
Every car collection should include a Model T there is nothing like them.
Soon they will all be over 100 yrs. old......

Thrust washers are a must do.
These were ready to fail and leave me without brakes.

The end play was not bad so it will just put around the neighborhood this summer and get rear end done this winter. Did king pins and steering joints, front wheel bearings, gas tank and carb, top hose neck on radiator and hoses. Niether one of us had ever worked on a T before, let alone drive one  What a hoot! Thanks for listening, John

John boy
Those washers came from a rear end with no endplay
People strongly suggested that I look at them and I was only a few revolutions away from a disaster.

I cannot stress the need to make sure yours are OK enough
