U-joint Application

I am going through more of my NOS parts and have a U-joint I can not find the application for in my parts book. The Fomoco part number is B5TZ-4635-A. I have found applications gor the other 10 U-joints including other trucks, but this one seems not to be listed in my 1965 Quick Reference Catalog. Could someone please help me out with this one? As I hate to guesse although I would likely be real close to right. Thanks Rod

That part is listed in the 48 - 56 Ford Truck Parts and Accessarys book.

It does not specify an application. It does give all of the measurements for the joint.

It is listed as a "Spicer" part.

Best I can do. :(

Thanks for looking. Does it give the "Spicer" part number? As I can crossreference that to the Echlin NAPA number and possibly come up with the application. Thanks Rod

Thanks, I was wondering about that with the thickness of the caps as compared to the 1/2 ton and passenger cars. Cross is about the same though. Rod

There is no spicer number-only your Ford part number is used.

The joint where the cap fits over is measured as 49/64

The cap O.D. measures 1 3/16

That would make the cap 27/64 thick

That is a fairly popular U-joint, has a lot of applications so would be hard to pinpoint to an exact make/model. Rockwell # is CP178X, GM# 2186972, IHC #127573R91.. the list of suppliers goes on and on. If you look up the National Stock Number (NSN) for it you will find there are over 30 different Reference Numbers (REFNOs) shown for it. Hope this helps!

Thanks Ron, that helps a bunch. Back to having more fun sorting and figuring it out then pic's and onto e-bay. Rod
