Two Tooth Sector parts availability....

Well it's August and still no two tooth sector gears or two tooth worm gears seem to be available:confused: They have been promised for months. The last 'good news' was announced in April--- they are coming... will be here in May....

Does anyone have the inside skinny on whether or not these parts are even being manufactured at that shop I think it was in Argentina?

It looks like their website has been lobotomized. Used to have various statements about when things were coming, now it's just a Shopify front end for kits. To be fair, their original statement said the 2-tooth kits would come first, with 7-tooth kits later in the year, and only then would they start selling individual parts. So it doesn't seem like they've gone back on any promises unless you can point to a statement saying otherwise.

I just picked up a new 2 tooth sector shaft a couple months ago from a place called Rust in Pieces. It is in parkland county, alberta canada. Contact there is a guy named Terry Brige. Phone number is 780-968-5252 . website is rstinpieces.ca. It was very reasonable, I paid 125.00 dollars canadian for it.

The parts for the two tooth steering are available now. Search for ModelAsteering.com which is a person in Florida. I just rebuilt a box with his stuff and it is what used to be available thru the vendors. It is good quality and it fits!

I see a worm and sector shaft sold separate from the kits.

Hard to know from only a catalog description. The possibility exists of "Argentinian sourced" which have had the downside to American production of being fairly high quality. I.e. "Made to Ford Standards" by one seller.

Best would be to talk to a seller and get confirmation of US or US aligned production.

MOST all small forged parts are sourced in China - although machining may be done in the US. US "second operation" may reveal defects that would be otherwise overlooked.

The fellow in Florida bought out all of my 2-tooth housings. It's nice to see them back into circulation and in use again!

It's been a while since I purchased a shaft with a worm. I had to due to conversion of a late 30/31 to a shorter 29 type. Snyder's didn't have them last I checked but they had separate parts. It takes some tooling to change a worm but it's not too bad. I've done them on later Fords.

I want to put in a outstanding recommendation to this steering gear supplier in Florida, Kevin. While ordering his rebuild, he is the one we need in our hobby.
He is straight forward, honest, and caring about Model A's and treats customers as we should be for repeat purchases. I would defiantly without hesitation I would deal with him again. I live in a small town in the northwest. His shipment was damaged in the mail, I called him and explained the problem, he sent a replacement that afternoon! No questions asked just send back the old one and help him with the claim for reimbursement.
He's a keeper!!

Will we ever get to buy just the worm and sector only?

It has been a long time since we were able to do that, then the vendors decided o sell the worm already fitted to a new shaft. They assumed everybody wanted LHD gear but we, being RID, had to buy the worm and shaft cassembly, remove the worm and throw it away, then fit a RHD worm so I ask the same question.

Model A Steering down in Florida came through.. to replace those parts a friend loaned off of HIS car to get this project moving a couple months ago:)
He has done a ton of work on the car it is amazing...

AND, the fellows at Model A Steering were as nice and helpful as can be on this. I can't say enough GOOD things about those guys! They deserve your business they are first-rate Model A enthusiasts:)
