a recommendation regarding a company or website on a turn signal unit. (I have a '33.)

Thank you!

It's hard to recommend the units that are currently available. They certainly aren't made as well as they were back in the 50s & 60s. Maybe some one else can steer you toward a better unit that what I've seen lately.

Here's what I did In my 34 to keep it all period correct. I used an old signalstat 700? Can't remember, but a search will show what I got. So while I liked the old school look, I felt it was too long, stuck out to about the same diameter as the steering wheel. Normally , with front hinged doors, may be OK. With suicide doors , entering from a different angle I thought it looked like a hazard to get your shirt caught on. So, I shortened it up as far as the shape would allow. Very happy with it now.
Next, the old turn signal units require a separate circuit for the signal bulbs as they have no ability to separate the brake lights. UNLESS !! you run power thru a series of relays. The wiring diagram to do this has been posted here many times, I may have it if you wish.
Next you google up "light socket" and thousands of choices come up. I found a 2 terminal socket that only needed a slight modification to fit in the cowl lights, and the rear lights already have 2 terminals. Next, you need a small globe , 2 filament bulb, easy to find at Motorcycle supply houses. Some time and effort required, but far better than some modern looking switch and hardware store plastic lights. JMO. The photos show the shortened switch, and the test panel I used to figger out the wiring. Once done, I mounted a small panel above the kick panel on the drivers side with much more tidy wiring.
So, I still have working cowl lights, with the bright filament for signals

dont know if you want to keep it retro ? if not check out the blinker/multiswitch that are used on heavy trucks they cover l/r + washer/wiper + high /low beam and horn in one unit that just clamps to the column

Signal Stat 900 is a well made unit and the black body looks good on an older car. I got one made to plug into a Kenworth truck wiring harness, but just cut off the connector plug. Look for an Inland Kenworth parts outlet in California and ask for part # TL10400. Also check www.truck-lite.com for more info.

Depending on how much fabrication you can do, an outer column from a 50's to 70's F100 will come with a top bell and switch assembly The bell will match up to your steering wheel and about all you have to do is cut the tube to length and do some wiring. The self cancelling sleeve will fit the original steering shaft.
When done it all looks factory.

I added this small buzzer to the turn signal circuit, it works on 3-24 volts pos or neg ground.
It’s loud and annoying so I put a piece of electrical tape around it, find them on eBay or radio shack.
