Turkey Rod Run

Day after Thanksgiving, on the way over. Wearing Arrogant ******* Ale t-shirt. Also recognize me with 41 Ford pickup parts tucked under my arm. May not spent much time looking at the modifieds but will be in the parts.

I've returned. Got hinge mount mirrors for my 41 truck and a Cleco set/kit. I've always seen the hinge mirrors on eBay but wanted to put my hands on them to see their quality. Sometimes eBay can be a blind junk buy. The flea market was heavily geared towards the intended crowd of hot rodders. I really want to see a flea market with all kinds of old junk. Lots of fabulous cars out there, some really good looking survivors, restored cars, and tons of restomods.

I saw some great metal working tools from Woodward-fab.com. I was particularly lustful towards the bead roller.

Midwest Early Ford had a complete pickup bed for just less than $2K. I at least got to see one as there are other manufacturers. I'd like to see them side by side. My only problem with a new bed is that it would be so clean while the rest of the truck was rough. My existing bed is pretty hammered.

I ran into S&H Chrome Plating and Powder Coating (www.shchrome.com) out of Madison, TN (Near Nashville). They reportedly restore chrome plated parts using copper plating to build up pitted parts rather than buff the pits out. The product samples that they had including the Desoto hood ornament with the eyes and beard intact was a great example to restored detail.

I also met the guys from Lecarra who tell me that they are within about 6 weeks of releasing a wood steering wheel. I wanted on for my 67 Mustang a year ago but they had lost their supplier.

It was a cold day. We capped the day with dinner at JCs Lobster Shack near Deland. See y'all at the next show.

I have had to miss the last THREE Turkey Runs, because of ill timed health issues.
I had better be well in 2015, or I will have to kill somebody !
It's one of the reasons that I moved to Daytona, when I retired, along with Bike Week and sunshine.
See you next year.
MIKE :) (mikeburch)
