Tudor headliner tack corner

Any ideas to replace the "what ever" it was in the rear corner curved channel headliner tack strip? It appears to have been some kind of hard rubber and is missing most of it.

Thanks, John

Lebaron Bonnie sells thin veneer that can be trimmed and slid into the channel. I have used it, and it works good. Another alternitive would be to use the flexible plastic tack strip that auto trim shops use, and pop rivet that in the channel.

I went to Lowes and got some Water Putty by Durham IND. mix it up like a peanut butter and trowel it in set up and will take staples and tacks. great stuff its liquid wood.

The rubber has hardened over time, and should be all removed. It will crack and split and the tacks or staples will not hold. Use the new stuff.

I took two layers of upholstery panel board and glued them together. Then cut them into the width I needed. I recall I had to trim the edges a bit to get the pieces to fit into the metal channels.

Thanks Guys, I ended up using 4 thicknesses of 3/32 bass model airplane wood, slide in one at a time with Titebond glue.
