Tubes for radial tires

One of the ongoing items on this forum has been the availability/suitability of tubes for the radial tires. I just received new 19" tubes from Snyders (P/N A-1506-19 - "TUBE RUBBER STEM 19") and the stems are clearly marked "RADIAL". In spite of their overseas origin, they appear to be sturdy and well-made, and not with recycled rubber of unknown composition. Likely that similar tubes are available from other vendors. (I'm not sure just what "OEM Quality" means...)

The tubes coming out of Vietnam are good quality, new rubber.

Chinese tubes are garbage they use recycled rubber.

That is what my local Farm Service tire guy told me anyway. He said no inner tubes are made in the USA anymore as far as he knew, since Firestone closed their Des Moines factory a few years ago. but that airplanes and motorcycles still use tubes?

Either one of them would be bad if you had bad tubes:eek:

I have been happy with the "RADIAL" tubes from Snyders. The rubber appears to be rugged enough. Mine are 21".

One of the five tubes I bought had a constriction in the stem such that I could not get balance beads down it. Air could pass, although slowly. The others were fine and with some vibration I got 4oz of beads into each one. I consigned that tube to a spare.

I've been buying my tubes from Bert's for years. They have Radial stamped on the valve stem just like Jay Jay describes. I would guess all the major suppliers sell the same tube.

Stocking one item is cheaper easier. You can use a radial tube in a bias tire but not a bias tube in a radial. The radial sidewall flexes more and causes heat and wear on the tube making it thicker increases its life.
