Tube shocks

Hi Guys,
I have decided to fit tubes to my RPU and have already made up the brackets. I would appreciated advice on which shocks to use. Can anyone give me brand names and serial numbers for suitable shocks.

Tks Mike,
My Model A shocks are shot and my 29 Chevy Phaeton doesnt have shocks at all Mine is just a driver, not for show and it bugs me not to have shocks.
Which ones go front and back or are they same same?
Regards
Chris

i bought my tube shocks from Snyders for my 29 RPU and the brackets come with them. Only one small hole to drill for each front shop, simple and a nice ride. Wayne

They mount differently if i remember correctly. It depends on your mounts. I'm sure the data sheets online will help.

First, I haven't done anything with the fronts on either car.(T.S. , Coupe) It's all been the rear. I used the Monroe 59017 because this shock has "eyes" in both ends and is relatively easy to mount and remove. You don't say how you will mount these shocks so I can't recommend anything. The shocks were stiff at first, but they seem to be loosening up somewhat with age and use. The car (coupe) seems to ride almost good at times. Go to my profile and click on "My A" and I took a few pics of the installation.

Why not use Armstrong lever shocks?

Brent - Could you provide a link or advise where I can look at Armstrong lever shocks? I ask because I am not familiar with them, and can't seem to get "search" to help me much.

I too do not have any shocks on my Fordor at the current time, but I am not a fan or tube shocks cause they just don't look good to me.

Thanks,

I am on my iPad tonite so it is hard for me to copy & paste links but below is the basic look of them. If you go to eBay and search for Armstrong shocks and then type in MG or Jaguar they will come up. Apple Hydraulics refurbishes them or you can still find NOS ones on many sites. The bolt holes of the shock is a direct fit to the Model-A frame holes but you will need to do a little fabrication work on the end of the arms.
