Trunk lid latch

Can anyone post a photo of the catch, on a '29 roadster, that the latch on the trunk lid hooks into? this is on the lower panel below the trunk lid. I can't find a photo to show a buddy who is converting one from a rumble lid. Also, are the catches available anywhere? Thanks

Ray is this what you need.

Ray,
I have two or three of them. I don't have a picture currently, but I can take one without much trouble if you would like one. If you don't get a closeup picture of one from someone else, let me know and I can take a picture or two of one that's in my garage. Dennis' picture shows the panel and the attached bracket, but the bracket is small in the picture and hard to make out. I assume your know your friend will need to replace the curved inner panel with one that looks like Dennis' panel to convert a rumble seat unto a trunk. BTW, if your buddy has an original Ford curved panel in decent condition that he doesn't need anymore, I would like to buy it for my 28 roadster. I believe I have an extra original Ford "trunk" style panel I picked up at a swap meet. It isn't perfect, but restorable with some work - with no rust outs I believe. At first, I installed a repro inner panel and it look pretty good, however the trunk lid would not close all the way. It stayed out about 1/8" to 3/16" from the outer panel and the latch wouldn't work at all. I have sworn off repro sheetmetal, unless I can't find an original Ford item I need after looking everyplace I can think of.

Hope this is what you're looking for Ray.

Dennis, I'm converting a 1930 Roadster from a rumble to a trunk, what do the four holes in that primered panel fit to? I have an original trunk panel and must be missing a piece that connects things to the rear panel, correct? Great photos Dave, is that T handle plated or stainless?

Roadster62,

The "T" handle is nickel plated for 28 and 29.
Check out Vince Falter's website. He's got a bunch of photos of a 30-31 Coupe as it's being assembled. The photos include a bunch of the trunk and floor area. A real must see for what you're doing.
