True or false...body assembly plant data

A few years ago, about 2006, I was in Bosie, Idaho and saw a 1926-27 Model T body with letters and numbers stamped in the same spot on the body as our Model A's (Well, most of them anyway).

Is it true or false that the Model T's also had assembly plant codes?

If you have a Model T in original state, would you please check the body subfloor cross sill for which the front seat risor is riveted to for any sign of letters and numbers?

Next time I am down in the Bosie area, I will have to look at that body again...actually I think it was in Caldwell, Idaho.

Thanks.

This is news to me, my 1912 Touring has a number under the front seat with a F prefex, I was told it was made by the Fox Body Company. Looks like any other April 1912 T Touring.

That subfloor cross brace is extremely prone to rust...at least on the open cars. It is going to be difficult to find enough cars to check that would still have any evident numbers. I'll check my open cars, and my closed car.

I can say that there were at least four differently constructed 26/27 touring bodies. Most differences are in the inner construction, but the doors don't even interchange on some of them. I don't know if all of these were running changes/improvements made over time (at least one exteriro change was), or if they were mostly due to different build techniques of outside body suppliers.
