Trouble with MACs

This is really terrible when the Ford Barn becomes Angie's List. When these guys all go out of business there will be all the discussion of how wonderful they were and how they are missed. I'm sure it helps vendor support in the form of advertising that is essential to keep the Barn profitable and capable of providing quality information to the Ford enthusiast. These type of threads are very sad.

Sounds like a call should be made to MAC's and tell them there's a woman in customer service that has no business being in customer service...at least two guys said they had a problem with a woman on the phone. Same woman? could be..

I just sent an email to their customer support department. (Only email address I could find for them.) It may be that the woman referred to will read the message and learn something or her supervisor might.

However, I personally think that if the horror stories that customers have about vendors were compared to the horror stories that the poor customer support people have about irate customers you know where the bigger fault would lie. With us! We can, at times, be a bit snippy, rude, and impatient with these people that are just trying to do their job as well. I've been on both sides. Believe me, customers are much worse at vendor relations than vendors are at customer relations.

I have been a fan of Mac's for at least 15 years. They bend over backwards to satisfy their customers.

We have China parts because 90% of the people shop "price" only. Most suppliers would be out of business if not for off-shore sourcing.

Exactly!

I have placed 2 orders with macs in the last 6 weeks....15% of the orders were out of stock the first order I had them ship what was in stock and cancel the out of stock items. The second order I told them I would wait and they can ship the whole order that was 4 weeks ago. I guess the parts are on the slow boat from china....I'd use the again

Speedway on the other hand....I refuse to buy anything more from them

I called customer support again and asked, since it was their error, not mine, would they honor the original total price on my order. I got a totally sarcastic response and the lady acted like she was shocked that I would ask such a silly question.

Yep, had problem with her too.

I had such a problem with a woman at MAC's who would not give me the discount because of an arguable error or difficulty with the ordering software. After a conversation with Macintosh(sp) himself, the difficulties of running a businesss were explained to my satisfaction and a refund followed. Without that refund I sure would be thinking differently. The ordering software has been improved but the woman with the comprehension problem seems to still be there. Perhaps a relative? Seems that we really need these guys but without competition you can see how things could go. Good Luck: Fred A

I'm thinking that it's Weeks 46's old tag line from when the website format was changed to the current, more user friendly format and he just hasn't changed it after this long time.

I just placed an order with MACS and I may have got the same gal. I was asking her if the body screw kits they list as 32-38 would work on the later 40's carbs and of course she had no idea, so I said let me talk to one of your techs and see if they know. She said, well they are just going to tell you the same thing because that's what the catalog says. So I just ordered one kit, to find out for myself, even though I need several.
I have however, made many previous orders with no issues.

Trev, I was curious about that statement as well. That's only one mans opinion anyway and he has only posted here 20 times. If he likes this format so well, where has he been? I don't really remember him posting on the old Fordbarn based on his avatar name.

Now as far as MAC's goes, I've had one small not so good experience with MAC's on fuel pump rebuild kits. I went up the ladder until I got to talk to the Pres. They made good on that problem and I would not hesitate to buy from them again today. I think we should stop bashing these companies every time something goes wrong. Like others have said, if they all went out of business, where in the heck would we buy some of these parts we need to keep these old cars on the road? I don't believe there is enough NOS parts left out there to satisfy everyones needs. JMO

For competition that has almost as wide a variety and ships faster, although some times a little more expensive, is C&G Early Ford Parts in California. Especially for those of us in the west, I get my parts in two days compared to Mac's 7. In the several months I've been following this forum I don't think I've heard any complaints about their customer service. Try them out at: https://secure435.hostgator.com/~dlvry40/index.htm

But, if I'm in no hurry for the part I still try Mac's first since they're a bit cheaper.

ive bought atleast 7000.00 in parts from macs had no prob with returns, even after there return deadline. but have delt with couple abbrasive woman there maybe having abad week lot of them out there like that.
whats this company speed products or speedworks u guys speak of?
thanks

I've bought a fair bit at Macs and found them to be pretty good. Only concern I had with them one time was they had items on back order and so I had to pay shipping to Australia twice and that made the parts pretty expensive. I ordered online and all they needed to do was send an email advising parts would be delayed a week. I still order from them.
