TROG Build On Left Coast

southfork -- The main reason for the 32B case with the upper and lower flywheel covers is that it bolts right up to the Model A motor with no after market adapters. I will use Model A oil pan.

The main reason for the 46 gears in the B case is to have the 1-2 & 2-3 synchros so I don't have to double clutch a Model A trans. TROG is a fun layed back side by side 1/8 mile drag race and double clutching don't work to well.

The other way to get to the same point is to run a 39 top loader V8 trans and a Kling adapter to mate the trans and Model A motor. The 39 trans has the same gears and syncho as the 46 gears I removed from the side loader.

Got started putting the 32 B trans back together with the late model 46 gear set that has a 29 tooth cluster gear. I pressed in the new clutch sleeves. They were very tight on the shaft so I filed them out a bit and ran my wheel cylinder hone through them until the shaft turned free. Pay no mind to the brass shavings in the picture, this was only a test fit. Had to use a bolt where the clutch shaft fork pin was as I had to drill it out to remove it from the 46 case.

Trial fit of the main drive gear set from the 46 trans into the 32 B case. All fit fine. Need to pick up some heavy bearing grease to set the cluster gear into the thrust washers as per Mac Van Pelt Trans Book.

We will be there on Friday afternoon and may see you at the kickoff at North Beach Campground Fri night, if not we will look you guys up Sat on the beach.

I only took a few cell phone pictures. Wet drizzle or light rain yesterday but still a good time and a big crowd. The web site says the surf is to rough and the sand was unable to use so they cancelled racing to day. A great turn out just the same.

Only in California where it has not rained for two plus years. A little wet all weekend but a good turnout of cars and watchers. TROG had a nice Fri nite show of the race cars, vintage bikes, hot rods & vintage trailers at North Beach Camp Ground where you could get up close and check the rides out.

The storm that was in the Pacific Northwest made for some big swells & pushed the tide up more than normal so the races started late on Sat & had to be shut down on Sun, still a good time for all.:D:)

Will post a few pictures from Fri get together in a few days.;)

Few Of The Pictures from the camp grounds on Fri.

Just finished my late model gear modification on 32 B case. The trans now has a set of gears and synchro from a 1946 Ford Coupe with 29 cluster gear. As this is a top loader trans it now has a rebuilt 39 shift tower. The front pictures show the 32 B top & bottom clutch case that will go on a B or A engine.

I put the following information on this thread is for anyone thinking of doing a like modification and has never done one "LIKE ME". I asked a lot of questions before I got Started and all said that if you Follow Mac Van Pelts book " The Ins And Outs Of Early Ford Transmissions" it will walk you through from start to finish. I have been hot rodding & drag racing for over 45+ years and the information provided make the project a lot easier. Things have to go in order.

Next we start on the Motor.
