Hi everyone, I want some advice. I have 3 carburetor, 2 Stromberg 97 and 1 Holley 94, I want to put the 94 in the middle and 97s on the ends. Am I going to have any issues with this set up? thanks in advance Steven.
I'm assuming you are using progressive linkage? The 94 is slightly larger (cfm wise) than the 97's so should work fine as the primary. The 94 can be modified for ported vacuum to use with a later distributor if needed whereas a Stromberg cannot (easily)
Believe me I'm not an expert but I've been told that the new and old 97's flow about the same, 155-162cfm, depending on who you talk to.
I came across an article about 97's a while back and this is a quote from that;
"Our own flow test results put the new Genuine 97 at 162cfm. A Speedway carb made 154cfm. And (to avoid any bias) the Barry Grant 98 made 162cfm too. All measured at 1.5inHg."
So with that said I figure when the three 97's on my 312" are WFO it's flowing ~500cfm which is about the same as the 500 cfm Edelbrock I also have for the same engine.
FYI The new Edelbrock 94 is rated a 160cfm. Don't recall what the original 94's were rated at.
I'm sure someone on here can tell you more.
